I've been pretty busy this week, luckily I've had a surprising amount of energy and it's been mighty helpful! Monday, I started making my own diaper bag with a pattern I got from my talented sewing sis Alyson, (also the talented bow making, baby quilt making, photo taking, and she's a mom of 2, pregnant with their 3rd. How does she find the time?) Anyway, got most of the bag done Monday - so excited because it was coming out really well! Anyway, Tuesday after picking Reed up from work and dropping him at home with our one shared car, I set out for Alyson's house for some additional instructions so I could finish my diaper bag. Wouldn't you know it, our car died right before I was about to pull out of our neighborhood. So, I called Alyson, who graciously offered the use of her husband to help find out what was wrong with our car, and why it wouldn't start. In the meantime, Reed walked over and we walked back home together, without our car. Long story short, Trevor, Alyson's husband, helped haul our car back home and he and Reed had it all fixed back up by 3 am. Wow! Trevor was a HUGE blessing to us, since we both needed to go to work the next day and taking our car to a mechanic would have cost a lot and taken more than just a few hours of one night, I can guarantee you that.
Anyway, while the boys were fixing up the car, I finished cutting out all the fabric for the crib skirt I am also making. I got most of that done that night, along with planting all the flowers I had painstakingly grown from seed into our flower beds in the front of our house. (I really hope they survive all this weird weather we're having.)
And last night, I finished my diaper bag! Boy I wish my camera could download a picture of it for you all to see. It's so cute! Even Alyson said so when I showed it to her today!! Someday, I'll include a picture on here. I promise.
So what do I have to show for myself tonight? I took a nap. I really needed it, believe me.
And tomorrow, my ward is hosting a relief society retreat up at somebody's cabin and Reed is coming to be one of our Priesthood Holders, so if I go into labor from all that driving (it's 1 hr 45 min. away) well at least Reed will be at the delivery! :) By the way, do you think I'm crazy for going? I'm pretty much 4 weeks from my due date.

trust me, I am not as talented as you make me out to seem. The diaper bag really is super cute. You did a good job sewing it! And Trevor was glad to help you guys out. He doesn't have excitement like that very often these days.
No I think you're probably fine going now on the retreat. Typically women go a little longer with their first than they would in future pregnancies. Plus a two hour trip isn't too far. If you happen to go into labor while you're there and didn't make it the two hours to the hospital, you would be one lucky lady to have such a short labor!!!! My shortest was 6 hours and I waited a couple hours at least to go into the hospital.
Great job on all your baby sewing projects. I remember doing that sort of thing with my first two. I even sewed clothes for Jonah. I don't think it is something I could possibly fit in now. Enjoy it while you can!
Yes, but you don't have the wide birthing hips necessary with the babies from our family :)
Seriously though, with my second I woke up in active labor at 6am, went to the hospital, I think I was admitted by 8 or so and we had a baby by noon. Even then, they broke my water. I don't know how long I would have gone if they hadn't.
So, even by that timeline, you would have made it to a hospital.
Take the time to enjoy yourself this weekend. Relax and make sure you don't let Reed rub your feet. I've heard it brings on contractions.
Have fun!
Wow you have a ton of energy for being so far along! I am still in the second trimester and feel exhusted all the time. And you are such an amazing mom to be making all these things for your baby. Your kinda like a superwomen to me. Did you get my message by the way?
I am so naughty Kristen. I only just listened to your message today - it really has been a hectic week! I'll call you tomorrow ~ and I'll try to stop taking on so many dang projects! :)
