Why My Heart Broke a Little Today

You can call me crazy, I'm okay with that.
Today we bought a bunkbed off of craigslist for Aftyn and Bronwyn.
In an apartment as small as ours, something like a bunkbed that saves space is exactly what I am looking for!
And it's time to start Bronwyn thinking of herself as a big girl since we have big plans in a few months that will solidify those feelings in her.  That being said, it's still hard to see my little little Bronwyn doing something that feels like it's for big girls.

Tonight after they were both sound asleep. No sheets yet. Don't judge. They'll get them soon. Maybe even tomorrow! :)

Aftyn has been so excited ALL. DAY. to sleep in her big bunk bed!

This was Bronwyn at naptime today. This is what broke my heart a little, to see her little body laying on such a big mattress. I just wanted to climb in next to her and snuggle her. By the way, we figured it was safer this way to have her mattress on the floor with the bed slats acting as her safety rail to keep her from rolling out. So far, seems to work well!

it is hard to watch your little ones move from stage to another when they ring so much joy just the way they are!!! Those pictures are precious. Your new bunks look really nice too. Are you pleased with them?

Yes! We love them! Especially their height, I like that they have finnials on the headboard and footboard, and I can't wait to move to a house where I can sand and paint it! And now I want to sew some matching bedspreads for their beds. . . . we'll see about that.

They are growing up too fast! I can't believe Bronwyn stays in there. What a good girl! I think Broxon wold climb right out. Can't wait to see what you sew for bedspreads. You are so creative. I interested in what the "big plans" are in a few months. Miss you guys.

Our big plans are potty training. . . fun stuff! :) I've been interested to know since you potty trained Brayli so early what you're doing with Broxon in that department. We miss you guys too!

ha! I just have to laugh, and tell a story... Right before Samantha's sixth birthday -- SIXTH (as in, just 8 months ago) -- she told me, "I can't WAIT to be SIX, because then I can go on the top bunk at (her friend) Anna's house!" This was a few months before we put our twins together as bunks. how funny, eh? and here little Aftyn is, sporting the TOP like a champ, without even a real guard rail! Wow!! Your little girls look too little to be in such big beds. But so it goes... now or never, eh? They're super cute!!

Oh, and I was also curious to know about your "big plans." Thought it might be some other announcement. ;) We're heading the potty-training direction with Nat right after our Idaho trip. She already sits on the toilet 2-3 times a day, tells me when she's wet or other, etc. Time for the next step, right?

Aw :) That is so cute :) It is hard to see them grow up like that :) I remember when Jonathan stopped saying words his cute way. He was saying them correctly, but we missed his "baby" way of saying them.

I wrote a big long post the other night then somehow it got deleted so I'll try again. We have actually started potty training Broxon a little. Boys are definitely different though. He isn't as excited about it as Brayli was and hasn't picked up on the sign yet. I think Brayli was basically day trained by his age. Also, it's a lot harder trying to distract him on the potty while trying to make sure I don't get sprayed with urine! That's happened a couple times already! We aren't being to pushy with him. Depending on how much time I have in the morning, sometimes I sit him on the potty after he's been up for a few minutes if his diaper isn't very wet. He also sits on the potty before baths after he watches Brayli do it. He only goes potty occasionally at this point but he's getting used to sitting there and being patient. I'll be more aggressive about it in a couple months. Brayli was just too easy!! She started waking up dry and doing the sign for potty before she was a year old. We knew it would be different with our other children. It's so hard no to compare though as I'm sure you know. GOOD LUCK!
