It all started when Aftyn and I had a conversation while in the car. We have horses and cows that live in the fields around our house, so we see them often and hear lots of commentary from the backseat about them. One day I decided to impart some wisdom about horses to Aftyn. I asked her what the horses in the field were doing, and told her they were eating grass. That was probably about a month ago.
Yesterday, as part of her normal play, she told me "horses, eating" and proceeded to lay face down on the carpet and pretended to eat our carpet "grass". With lots of giggling following, by mommy and Aftyn. What a silly girl. Then since Daddy was home, she showed him too.
Today, I was telling my mom this story while in the car with Aftyn and Aftyn called out "ew, gross!". She makes us laugh a lot.
It finally hit Reed today that we're really having another baby, and that Aftyn will not be the only child getting all the attention anymore. He was sad. And then I imparted on him the wisdom I gained a few months back when I felt the same feelings. Those of you with children, what would you have me share with Reed about these feelings?

We're Still Alive, I Think
I know you're all relieved to know that we're still alive!
I've been a little caught up in getting through the last few weeks. My body has gotten a little more uncomfortable to live in, and I didn't want to complain to the lot of you who have been through this before and don't need to re-live pregnancy squished-ness through me. But just so you know, I'm plenty squished right now. But I am nearly 36 and a half weeks pregnant, so why shouldn't I be?!?
We had a really fun Easter this year. Aftyn took part in our ward Easter Egg Hunt, and a neighborhood hunt and has become really good at finding "hidden" eggs in grass. For our own family time, we dyed a few easter eggs together on Sunday and then Aftyn and I found our newly decorated eggs after Reed had hidden them. Aftyn loved it! We followed this up with homemade easter treats and a lesson on Jesus/the Resurrection. All in all, a fun memory and one we can't wait to experience many more years.
I am excited to announce that after only two and a half years, we are finally putting grass in our backyard ! ! ! Reed has the ground leveled and almost all raked and we are planting this Saturday. I cannot possibly put enough exclamation points in this whole paragraph to tell you how excited we all are to have a backyard we can play in. Yes, we'll have to wait a few weeks for it to grow, but what's a few weeks after a few years, hmm? Anytime Reed has gone outside to work on the backyard, Aftyn insists on going out there with him. What's so comical about it is that she refuses to walk off the cement patio into the dirt, which is good since there's weed killer on the ground. So she just stands and talks to Reed while he works, exclaiming about the birds, and the dirt and the weeds and freezing her little hands and legs off but LOVING being outside! I get a kick out of watching the whole thing from inside, and I think Reed likes having her company. :)
Since we're putting in grass, we're also thinking of making garden boxes as well for our garden to grow in this year. Yay! I love the idea of having a little garden to work in while Aftyn plays outside. By the way, sorry there are no pictures of any of these events. Our camera is having issues, it might just need a new memory card, but until we figure it out we have no new pictures to share. :(
Reed just went on his last out-of-town trip for work yesterday. Now he's stuck at home for the next few weeks until our new addition makes her appearance. I don't think he minds though. I think we're all pretty excited to get her here.
This has been your update. I'll try and do a bit better. But I'm not making any promises. ;)

Blogger Is Irritating!
Anybody able to tell me why blogger won't allow me spaces between my sentences? It wants to clump all my sentences together into one BIG blob! Makes me mad since I have 2 posts I have wanted to post that are all written, but not if they are just a big blob of words. Hmph!
Crazy Pregnancy Thoughts
Last night I had a dream that if you pushed hard enough on my stomach, you could see the outline of my baby's feet. And her face. And when my friend in my dream pushed with her hands and found her head, you could hear the baby cry. Weird, hmm?
Just goes to show where my thoughts are these days. Doesn't help that I'm having killer heartburn today due to some yummy but stomach aggravating foods I ate yesterday. I am officially feeling ready to have this baby, and yet not. Do you ever really feel ready?
I've got some crazy nesting/cleaning/crafting to do and at least 3 good weeks to get it done. (But more than likely 5-6 weeks.) These are just some last minute projects I want to do, definitely not necessities for this baby.
Baby B is pretty much squared away. I only need to wash her bassinet linens to make sure they're clean as the bassinet has been sitting in my dusty garage for a few months. I don't know why I didn't just store all of the linens from it in my house when I first got it back from my sister all clean. Oh well.
I'm moving a little slower these days. Yesterday while teaching my class of 8 year olds, I dropped things on the floor about 5 times, due to my slowing clumsy reflexes. And each time, one of them jumped out of their chair and very willingly picked it up for me, without me having to ask. I have very sweet kids in my class. They really seem to try to help me a lot. I appreciate all that help!
Reed is getting better at sleeping through my middle of the night noises i.e. groaning when I roll over, getting up to go to the bathroom, getting up to check on some phantom noise I heard, getting some Tums/Maalox for heartburn. I guess I'm helping to prepare him for when the baby gets here. :)
Aftyn is content in her little world. Sometimes she talks about our baby, but generally she says she's crying, or waking up, or eating. Evidently all things I've talked to her about. Or somebody has. My favorite is when she comes and spontaneously kisses my baby bump. Love that.
Aftyn has a great capacity to be a good little helper when this baby comes, and I think once she gets used to the change the baby brings, she will want to continue to help with all the big girl things she can do. Can't wait to meet our little B baby!

Whoops . . . . I Can't Believe I Did It Again
That's right, I weighed my produce at the store again today to figure out the cost and then left them hanging there.
Now I'm starting to wonder, why isn't anyone telling me?! Isn't anyone around watching or waiting to use the little produce scales noticing this pregnant lady forgetting her produce?
Evidently not. I'm beginning to get very frustrated with myself. But not too frustrated. I'm still laughing about it, but if it happens a 3rd time I might be downright ticked off. And probably stop weighing my produce to get an accurate cost.
The following Aftyn story would be considered bathroom humor, so if you can't appreciate a potty trained almost 2-year-olds perspective of her bodily functions, READ NO FURTHER!
Aftyn has been having some issues with pooping the last couple of days and we haven't been sure if she's holding it in, hasn't had to poop or what. Needless to say, today she has been making up for it I'm pretty sure.
At her last bathroom visit, she informed me after only sitting a few seconds and blatantly "pushing", she said "Help, stuck". And looked up at me with perfect faith that whatever was stuck I could help her with.
I couldn't help laughing. It was all too cute and innocent. And luckily, it wasn't stuck.

Things I've Accomplished and Want To Accomplish (Continued)
I want to apologize in advance - blogger is being dumb and won't let me space this out! Argh!! Things I Have Accomplished: 1. Learned to really like having house plants and even managed to keep most of them alive! 2. Taught myself how to sew useful things for my family 3. Taught myself to knit - but I'm no officianado. I can make pretty easy things only. 4. Re-upholstered a couch by myself. 5. Had a baby without an epidural - something I wasn't certain was at all possible, and hopefully something I can accomplish again. Things I Want To Accomplish in the next year: 1. Teach myself to crochet. 2. Have a gathering in our house when we get our backyard in. 3. Try 15 new recipes 4. Be a better friend. 5. Make a piece of furniture from scratch. That looks good. :) (Last weeks was pretty wordy, and this week I felt like keeping it simple. It's easier to read that way too.) :)
