This has been a most interesting week for a few reasons:
1. I started back to work this week, working from 6 am to 3 pm.
2. Reed is out of town this week, until hopefully tonight.
3. Aftyn began her life as a daycare kid.
Having to wake up at 4 am to get ready for work was not actually the shock I expected it to be. I am surprisingly resilient now at getting up at any hour, thanks to Aftyn's ability to be hungry at any hour. She has broken me in quite well.
But the problem is, when your child doesn't go down for the night until 11 pm one night, then 10 pm the next night, then 9 pm the following night, and accounting for at least one wake up feeding call in the middle of the night but then having to get up at 4 am - A Person only gets 4 - 5 hours of sleepa night.
This week has been a testing ground for me. I have learned that I can truly survive only getting about half the sleep I should. It's not something I am really proud of, but is driven by necessity. Becoming a mommy has made me a tougher person, a person who can take drastic measures if it's for the good of their child. Needless to say, I'm so excited for Reed to come home tonight. I've already informed him that he can put Aftyn to bed tonight, because mommy needs a REALLY long nap. :)
I don't know how single mommy's do it. They must be absolutely exhausted working full time and being a full time mommy!
